This project began in late February and so far seems to be a great success. This project’s aim is to reduce the amount of plastic bottles on campus and to make the students more aware of their environmental impact on the earth. By making the campus greener the schools helps to reduce the amount of pollution that goes into the ocean. The school has installed brand new water refill stations throughout the campus to make sure that everyone still has access to clean drinking water. | | | | This year the goal is, “Think Green Act Green,” They got this idea from a group of concerned High School students, who worked closely with the school’s so called “Green Team”. They have now led the effort in banning the sale of bottled water on our campus. As this group of students educated their fellow students and teachers, the members of the community all reached the conclusion that we needed to take action and stop selling bottled water. |

By reducing our consumption of plastic, they’re having a positive impact our environment. | | | You may ask, well what is a water refill station? A water refill station is a white rectangular sink, with two or three water spigots that protrude from the wall. To refill your water bottles all you do is place your bottle under the spigot, push the button and your bottle will be filled with refreshingly clean drinking water. These water refill stations are fast and efficient; they take less than ten seconds to completely refill your bottle, put the cap on and go. “In my opinion these water refill station are great. I really like how they took the amount of plastic down on campus; because of these water refill stations the amount of plastic that goes into the ocean decreased,” said Christine Galluccio, a parent of a student and member of the community.
